Milwaukee Brewers defeat Arizona Diamondbacks 11-3 – MLB Update
The Milwaukee Brewers put up a defiant show to comprehensively defeat Arizona Diamondbacks 11-3 on Tuesday, July 19 at Chase Field.
The exciting game proved to be the resurgence of the Brewers’ offence.
The Brewers appeared to have planned a rather aggressive game when Barry Enright came on the mound to pitch. The Diamondbacks’ starter was far from being effective, as the Brewers hitters seemed rather elusive to bring under control.
Corey Hart gave it an auspicious start with his single. He homered to left-centre to get the first run for the Brewers followed by Ryan Braun’s two-run homer. Tripling the lead, Yuniesky Betancourt went for a bigger hit.
Missing 10 of last 13 games, Ryan Braun has had a wonderful season this time with 88 games. Being at-bat 320 times, he has scored 59 runs with 17 home-runs, maintaining an average of .316 with 101 hits to his credit and .556 SLG.
He homered to left, enabling McGehee to score as the Brewers secured a five-runs lead in the six hits first inning against the straining Barry Enright. The Diamondbacks tried their best to make a comeback with the two-run first inning.
Justin Upton scored the first run followed by Miguel Montero’s hit against Yovani Gallardo that brought the lead down to 5-2. Rickie Weeks did not spare Enright with his RBI single, taking the lead to 6-2.
Gallardo then pitched effective innings to keep the Diamondbacks’ lead secure. His fastballs were, at best, too elusive to be played while the Brewers’ offence, now in better shape, kept pounding the straining Arizona defence.
In the 21 games that Gallardo has played so far in this season, pitching 127.1 innings, he has given up 131 hits and allowed 64 runs with 1.38 WHIP and 3.96 ERA. Although the record does not read as something impressive, he is improving with the passage
of time.
Brandon Allen homered to right to score the third run for the Diamondbacks as Gallardo pitched his fifth inning. The Brewers reciprocated rather more ruthlessly in the sixth inning when the hitters took Zach Duke to the task.
Hart scored a single followed by Nyjer Morgan’s single that took the lead to 8-3 which was taken to 9-3 by Carlos Gomez with his single. The 2-hits three runs innings brought the Brewers in control of the game which they successfully defended.
While Marco Estrada pitched shut-out innings, Yuniesky Betancourt hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to take the score to 11-3 which was then turned into victory by Kameron Loe with his shut-out ninth inning.
Having earned the victory in the game, the Brewers are now back in the four-game series, levelling it 1-1.
