Milwaukee Brewers defeat Florida Marlins 9-5 – MLB Update
Ryan Braun homered on Sunday, September 25 to assist in the 9-5 victory for the Milwaukee Brewers over the Florida Marlins at Miller Park.
This was the 55th victory for the Brewers and also led to candidature of Ryan Braun as possibly the Most Valuable Player.
Prince Fielder was all praise for Ryan Braun whose average now stands .333 this year alone with a great performance. "MVP year," Fielder said. "He's been outstanding. Batting title possibly, the home runs, stolen bases, RBIs. He's done magnificent."
Centre-fielder Nyjer Morgan was of the same view when asked what he thought of Braun. "He's the MVP of the league," Morgan said. "Hopefully, (Friday) kind of locked it up for him. I hope that really locked it up. I think it really showed that he should be
the MVP."
Fielder now has a hitting average of .293, says he will keep playing.  "I'm going to keep playing," Fielder said. "Playing every day means a lot to me."
However, it was Braun who stole the show on Sunday, winning praises from almost every quarter.
Emilio Bonifacio started the game for the Florida Marlins with his homer to centre in the very first inning as Chris Narveson pitched the inning. Ricky Nolasco of the Florida Marlins was effective enough to keep the first inning scoreless.
However, that did not go long as George Kottaras, Chris Narveson and Corey Hart scored a single each in the second inning to not only reverse the Marlins lead but to also give the Milwaukee Brewers a 3-1 lead.
Rickie Weeks singled to centre in the third, Jerry Hairston, Yuniesky Betancourt and George Kottaras went for respective singles in the third to put the Brewers on the right track with a 7-1 lead in the 5-hit four-run third inning.
Ryan Braun had his homer scored in the fourth inning to receive a standing ovation as the team took up their lead to 8-1. Narveson kept throwing strong innings to maintain the 8-1 lead for the Brewers.
Donnie Murphy homered for the Marlins in the fifth as Omar Infante went for a two-run double to bring the Brewers lead down to 8-4. Craig Counsell had a hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it 9-4.
As the game entered into the bottom of the eighth, Matt Dominguez scored a single to take the Marlins score to five but Marco Estrada pitched a shut-out ninth to help the Brewers beat the Florida Marlins 9-5.
The Brewers put in a tremendous effort as they fought hard throughout the game to dominate over the Marlins. It will be interesting to see how the Brewers are able to carry their winning momentum forward into their next match-up.
