Milwaukee Brewers defeat Minnesota Twins 5-3 – MLB Recap
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Minnesota Twins 5-3 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, June 15 at Target Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Brewers tremendously and never allowed the Twins to take control of the game. They kept them under pressure and slowly pushed them towards a bitter and humiliating defeat.
Milwaukee not only pitched well but they also batted very well in the entire game.
From their starter to starting batting lineup, the Brewers looked confident and came onto the field with a clear objective in mind to oust their opponents with big margin.
Yovani Gallardo pitched six innings and allowed only three runs, eight hits, three earned runs and struck out seven. He also maintained his 4.23 ERA and proved to be one of the winning factors for the Brewers.
"I still feel 100 percent with him out there closing the game. You saw he proved it tonight," Gallardo said. "The past few days things haven't gone his way, but you couldn't notice it out there on the mound."
Brewers closing pitcher John Axford also played well and proved a helping hand for his team’s starter.
"I want to be there as many times as possible," Axford said, smiling, "because then we're always winning, right?”
"It can hurt the team, and it can hurt the guy that's out there closing. So all that was very important to me, When you walk the leadoff guy, you end up getting yourself in a little bit of a jam," Twins manager Ron Roenicke said with low voice on his team’s defeat.
On the other hand, the Twins starter Francisco Liriano and closer Matt Capps spoiled the game for their team. Both played poorly and combined they were hit for five runs which made things easy for the Brewers to take the game in style.
Liriano went for 6.24 ERA and Capps was hit with 3.55 ERA.
In the meanwhile, with this win, not only the Brewers took early lead in the series but they are also looking very optimistic to take away the series.
