Milwaukee Brewers edge past Cincinnati Reds 4-3 – MLB news
Milwaukee Brewers edged past Cincinnati Reds 4-3 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on July 08 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
The Brewers played wonderfully and won in style. They kept the Reds under pressure throughout the game and won in the end.
“When you save the game like that or when you hit a walk-off home run, it's amazing, I never hit one, but I steal home run to win game. It's something special, like you can't wait to get home to see it over and over,” Gomez said after the game.
Milwaukee Brewers’ batters and pitchers showed great temperament and never allowed the Reds to take any advantage. Especially their top hitters played true offensive game and hammered hard all the Reds’ pitchers.
“The whole thing is really a random occurrence and it's what makes baseball so special, Carlos has had a fantastic year this year. Today he didn't have a good game offensively and he goes out and makes game-changing play on defensive end. You know, I did
everything I could, and he made a great play,” first baseman Joey Votto said.
Shortstop Jean Segura started well for the Reds as he scored one run on three brilliant hits. He ran for an RBI on his three at bats while he remained consistent on his .491 slugging percentage.
Catcher Jonathan Lucroy scored one run on one hit. He also played well on the plate and ran for two RBIs on his four at bats. He hit hard and remained consistent on his persistent .450 slugging percentage.
First baseman Juan Francisco also did a good job on the plate as he scored one run on three hits on his three at bats. He hit hard and maintained his slugging percentage at .444.
Not only hitters, but the Brewers talented pitchers also performed wonderfully and helped their team win an important first game of the series.
Starting pitcher Kyle Lohse pitched 6.2 innings and allowed three runs on nine hits. He also allowed three earned runs and one homer while his ERA remained consistent at 3.47.
