Milwaukee Brewers fail to defend Game 4 of NLDS – MLB Playoffs

Milwaukee Brewers faced a harsh 10-6 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fourth outing of the five-game series at Chase Field in Phoenix on Wednesday, October 5 and the series tied at 2-all.
Brewers’ starter Randy Wolf displayed his worst performance a pitcher can exhibit in a game, most vital for his club. The 12-year veteran hurler provided opposition to their dream start, allowing two back-to-back homers in the bottom of the first inning.
The left-hander had one of the worst outings of the season, at a time when the club could not afford such stress.
Wolf allowed seven runs and eight hits while walking three batters over his three innings. He used 81 pitches in three innings and went for a 21.00 ERA.
The Brewers’ struggle to make it to the World Series has gotten a lot more difficult, after this humiliating loss. The club tried hard to remove the mistakes of their pitcher, but it was hard to create the same dominating performance against Joe Saunders.
Shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt scored three runs and made three hits over his four at-bats, but these could not take the Brewers back into a winning track. Betancourt faced just ten pitches and made fast smashes to help his club advance in the run chase.
Right-fielder Corey Hart, third baseman Jerry Hairston also participated with their bats. Hairston splashed a hard hit towards deep-left-field for a double and helped Hart score to reduce the lead to 5-3. Hart helped Betancourt to score in the top of the
sixth inning with the help of his sacrifice fly.
At no-time did the Brewers come into a dominating position. They struggled to take themselves out of the pressure of the D-backs. However, Arizona kept on piling the runs and stopped after cementing ten runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Brewers centre-fielder Carlos Gomez made an attempt to relieve some burden from his club and launched a 390-feet long two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning, but it was not enough for this situation.
Game 5 of the series has now become a series finale. Brewers’ bull-pen will be looking to introduce their best pitcher at a starting position. Yovani Gallardo has a reputation to take his club out of narrow situations. It will be an exciting game as both
teams will give it their all for a victory.
