Milwaukee Brewers get new prospect baseman – MLB Update
The Milwaukee Brewers have a promising new prospect for them ready in the upcoming year as Ryan Gennett, a 21-year-old first baseman is tipped to be among the top infielders in the years to come as he braces himself for the challenge.
Having remained with Class A Wisconsin in 2010, he has made his way into the Florida State League in Advanced Brevard Country. Among other things, his performance in 2011 remained exciting for a player of his age. The player appeared in 134 games for his side, having had an average of .300 with 74 runs to his credit with no less than 20 doubles.
Previously, he was a success when he became a part of Peoria Javelinas. With an average of .411 in the 22 games that he appeared in, he has paved the way for his ascension to the Double-A in 2012, and possibly a top prospect for the Milwaukee Brewers.
“I think after my first full season I had a lot to bring into my second year, which was last year,” Gennett said. “I think I have even more things to improve on and work on in the offseason to get ready for next year.”
Having achieved in a young age, the player, however, shows no signs of contentment. Ambitiously driven, the player wants to make further advancement. “I'm not going to say I'm satisfied,” Gennett added. “You cannot be satisfied in this game until you are a veteran in the big leagues, but it's nice being able to prove people wrong. I think it's actually a good thing to have to prove people wrong every now and then.”
Gennett comes, or will come, to the Milwaukee Brewers at a time when the controversy has surrounded Ryan Braun after a failed drug test. All the same, Prince Fielder is a free-agency, and unsure he would be part of the Brewers in the next season. Whatever the end result of the pair which has predominated the team, Gennett’s becoming a favourite prospect for the Brewers. Considering his performance so far, he is indeed a great sign.
