Milwaukee Brewers hopeful for Weeks despite his deteriorating performance – MLB News
If there was one thing that the Milwaukee Brewers might not have wanted at this point in time, it was the plummeting, if not degenerated performance of Rickie Weeks. Despite that, the team manager Ron Roenicke, on Saturday, June 16, hinted the team will continue to give him a chance to regain his form.
While Roenicke said that the performance has bothered the player, professionalism will allow him to improve.
"It bothers him," Roenicke said. "It bothers everybody. He's just a grinder. He's very professional about what he does. He tries to go through the same routines. He's just not an emotional guy like you can read on so many different faces."
There might well be growing concerns over the player’s inability to charge up the offence. A quick look into his last few weeks performance shows that he has only hit .162. If that is not worrying, he has had 76 strike-outs in 60 games which adds to the concerns of the team.
All this compounds the problem for the Milwaukee Brewers too given the fact that they were one of the best sides the past season to reckon with as far as hitting is concerned. Things, however, have not clicked for the team and the player as a whole this time round.
The performance of the player indeed bothers many a people considering the fact that he was an All-Star last time. But the team manager hopes he will get back to where he once was.
"But it has to bother people," Roenicke said. "You can't just go through things, as good as a player as he was -- an All-Star last year -- and have him play like this and say everything's fine. He knows where he is and what's going on. He's working his tail off trying to get back to it."
Whether Weeks manages to do that is a question that will bother many. However, if history is anything to go by, he is adroit and skilled enough to once again charge up the offence with his extraordinarily strong and laudable performance.
