Milwaukee Brewers humiliate Minnesota Twins 11-1 – MLB Update
Milwaukee Brewers’ batters put an extraordinary performance throughout the game as they scored runs in back-to-back innings to give the Brewers an 11-1 victory against the Minnesota Twins at Miller Park, Milwaukee on June 25.
It was the second game of a three-game series and the Brewers took a 2-0 lead after this comfortable win.
In the first inning, Michael Cuddyer walked but Ben Revere was grounded out to second base without the addition of a first run. On the other side, the Brewers’ batters also failed to add up some runs and got out as Rickie Weeks was grounded out to second
base and Corey hart struck-out swinging.
The Twins added their first run when Revere singled to left-field and Jason Repko posted one run to give the Twins an initial 1-0 lead. However, the Brewers’ batters stepped on the gas during the third inning and scored five runs to go-ahead 5-1.
Carlos Gomez took the first run by hitting a home-run (379 feet) towards left-field while Jonathan Lucroy, Hart, Weeks and Ryan Braun each made one run to complete a five-run campaign for the Brewers. Gomez scored a single run on the sacrifice fly of Weeks
in the fourth inning to extend the Brewers’ lead 6-1.
The Brewers took a 7-1 lead when Yuniesky Betancourt hit a solo homer (364 feet) towards deep left-field. At the bottom of the sixth inning, the Brewers’ batters smashed three runs to raise their lead 10-1. Braun hit a sacrifice fly off right-field and Weeks
posted one run. Prince Fielder homered (384 feet) to left-centre and Hart added the last run of the three-run sixth inning.
Weeks said, “This team has a real nice balance of pitching, defence and offensive threats, so there's no way around our team right now. We're playing pretty good baseball right now and that's all we can ask for.”
The pitchers limited the shots during the seventh inning and got out the batters. The Brewers’ starter, Yovani Gallardo pitched nicely as he threw seven solid innings with an ERA of 3.92 and gave away only one run on six hits including one earned run. He
permitted three walks and had six strike-outs.
Gallardo commented on his game plan and said, “We're not really noticing what those guys are doing, we've just got to go out there and try to win every ballgame. If we go out there and the job we have to do, everything's going to fall into place at the end
of the year.”
Hart hit a solo homer (409 feet) to left-centre in the eighth inning and got a huge 11-1 lead. During the bottom of the ninth inning, Matt Tolbert flied out to centre-field and Revere fouled out to third base.
