Milwaukee Brewers looking forward after NLCS fallout – MLB Playoffs
The Milwaukee Brewers reacted with poise on the final result of the National League Championship Series after the St. Louis Cardinals won the series 4-2. The Cardinals took Game 6 with a 12-6 score.
However, much as these were moments of deep emotions and overwhelming sentiments, the Milwaukee Brewers crew did not give in to self doubt and dejection. Instead the players felicitated their rivals for victory.
Ryan Braun was of the view that everyone understands the situation. "It's the reality of it now," Braun said. "Everybody recognizes the reality of the situation. Everybody understands the circumstances.”
When the best-of-seven game series kicked off, the Milwaukee Brewers seemed dominant. The practical evidence came on the very first night when the Brewers took over the Cardinals with confidence, beating them 9-6.
Fans were expecting repetition in Game 2, but the defence collapsed and the offence saw their worst performance in memory when the Cardinals won the game 12-3. The Brewers tried to stage a comeback in Game 3, but fell short with a 4-3 loss.
However, the Brewers won Game 4 by a score of 4-2, reviving their hopes to put things in order. That did not materialise. Game 5 had a favourable result to the Cardinals with a 7-1 victory.
All expectations for the competition shattered when the Cardinals decisively played their strong part in Game 6, winning the game 12-6 as well as the series 4-2.
Prince Fielder whose characteristic performance put the Cardinals on a big ride came to accept the results.
"I'm not mad at all about this year because it is what it is. Unfortunately we didn't get to where we wanted to go," he said. "But still some great moments and great memories in there."
With the Brewers out, and the Cardinals into the World Series now, the team is looking forward to next year as they will start again and try to dominate the regular season and make a statement to the rest of the teams. It will be interesting to see how the
NLCS loss affects the Brewers during the off-season and into the regular season next year.
