Milwaukee Brewers lose to Miami Marlins 2-6 – MLB Recap
Milwaukee Brewers lost to Miami Marlins 2-6 in the fourth game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, September 6 at Marlins Park in Miami.
Brewers managed to level the series 2-2 but overall they played poorly and could not match the Marlins’ brilliance.
Miami played wonderfully and proved their valour. They showed their offensive power and rattled the Brewers in all areas of play.
"He started the season very rough because he hadn't pitched in a while, After that he got the momentum going. You look up and he's had a great year if you look at it that way, compared to last year,” Marlins' manager Ozzie Guillen said.
Starting pitcher Josh Johnson started the game for the Marlins and pitched aggressively. He pitched seven innings and allowed only two runs and four hits. He retired seven batters and maintained his ERA at 3.81.
"I settled in, used my curveball and located my fastball, I made pitches when I needed to. That's the name of the game." Johnson said.
Relief pitcher Heath Bell pitched one inning and received only one hit and struck-out one on his 5.56 ERA.
Closer Steve Cishek pitched one inning and did very well on the mound. He received one hit and maintained his 2.44 ERA with great energy.
On the other hand, Marco Estrada pitched poorly for the Brewers as he pitched five innings and allowed four runs and seven hits. He struck-out five and maintained his 3.99 ERA.
"It was brutal, I went out there and wasn't making my pitches. I felt all out of whack. I just wasn't making my pitches and even when I did they got hit," Estrada said.
Closer Livan Hernandez supported his team well but he could not stop the Marlins' batters on the other end who were continuously hammering the Brewers’ pitchers.
Hernandez pitched one inning and received only one hit but could not maintain his ERA which rose to 5.26.
Closer Brandon Kintzler also performed poorly as he pitched 1.1 innings and allowed two runs and three hits. He did strike-out one but his ERA went to 7.71.
