Milwaukee Brewers name rookie Taylor Green to NLDS roster – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers’ rookie Taylor Green has gotten a surprise call for the National League Series’ roster. Although the name will not be formally included in the roster until as reports say, by 10 am on October 1, Green is likely of playing against the
Arizona Diamondbacks.
The news of course has an element of amazement in it. While a relatively incredible piece of news for Green, he will supersede the right-handed Josh Wilson, generally considered to be the veteran of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Once Green got the news, he was obviously surprised. "It's unbelievable. What a year," said Green, the Brewers' Minor League Player of the Year. "I was just happy to be here in the first place, and this is a bonus."
Having played 20 games this season as the rookie was recently inducted into the Milwaukee Brewers. Green has an average of .270 with 10 hits to his credit. Although seemingly not very impressive stats, he has somehow got the sharp eyes of the team manager
Roenicke.
Josh Wilson, on the other hand, has remained one of the most instrumental players out there for the Brewers. Having 54 games to his credit for the Brewers this year, he has an average of .227 with 17 hits to his credit, having scored 10 runs, two of which
are home-runs.
The news, therefore, comes as a disappointment for the player.
"There's certainly disappointment that comes along with that," said Wilson. "We play to win a championship, and I've always wanted to be in that situation, have an opportunity to play in the playoffs.”
As the veteran Josh Wilson fails to get his name registered for Game 1 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, it will now be a chance for Green to show his brilliance as the rookie who was given preference over one of the senior players. It will be interesting
to see what type of impact Green has in the game. The Brewers will be looking for a tremendous performance from the rookie in Game 1 against the Diamondbacks.
