Milwaukee Brewers’ offence confident ahead of NLDS Game 5 against Arizona Diamondbacks – MLB Update
Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun and Rickie Weeks are looking forward to bounce back for Milwaukee Brewers in Game 5 of the National League Division Series against Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, October 7 at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin after the trio
went 3-for-23 in the two games played at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
Fielder and company failed to capitalise against the Diamondbacks on the road after having gone 10-for-22 in the first two games of the five-game series. Weeks has been the less favoured of the three in the first four games and will be looking forward to
perform in the final in a bid to contribute towards his team’s success.
Brewers won their first division title in 29 years after wrapping up the NL Central in the final week of the regular season. The Diamondbacks, on the other hand, made a remarkable comeback to topple the reigning World Champions San Francisco Giants and subsequently
seize the NL West.
A superior record in the regular season has allowed Milwaukee to host Game 5, but with the Championship Series at stake, home-advantage will have little say in the final result.
If the Brewers lose, it could be Fielder’s last game for the franchise with free agency looming. The NL home-run derby captain expressed his desire to star in Game 5 for the Brewers, but was quick to add that it does not necessarily have to come from him.
He praised Milwaukee’s line-up and pointed out that every player has the ability to win the game.
Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke came out in support of Fielder and said, "Right now he is so focused on what we need to do and trying to win this game so that we can go on that I don't think that's going to come into play with him. He's locked in on what we
need to do. He knows his at-bats are going to be important. And hopefully with Ryan and the boys on in front of him, we'll see what happens."
The manager added that the Diamondbacks have a good chance to win the final, especially with the momentum in their favour. However, he clarified that both teams will play to their potential and it will be a cracker.
Talking to reporters on the eve of Game 5, Weeks emphasised that the team is pretty confident of winning the clash and is more comfortable playing at home.
