Milwaukee Brewers’ pitcher Chris Narveson goes through surgery – MLB News
Just when one thought the clouds of misfortune over the Milwaukee Brewers had scattered and vanished, apparently bad news has surfaced. Milwaukee Brewers’ left-hander Chris Narveson is said to have gone through surgery on his left hip.
The surprising news surfaced on Thursday after the club officials made it known. However, the officials were also quick to assert that there are hopes Narveson will be ready for Spring Training soon.
Giving details of what Narveson had actually undergone, the Milwaukee Brewers’ assistant general manager Gord Ash stated that the pitcher, for several years, had a chronic hip condition that necessitated surgery.
It turned out, afterwards, that doctors had called for a surgical fix. Dr. William Raasch, who is the team’s head physician, actually carried out the procedure through arthroscopic methods. Thus the surgery on the left hip will now require the pitcher to
take rest.
However, Ash stressed the fact that everyone was optimistic about the outcome but also that he will soon be available for the team to play. He is tipped to be among the five-man starting rotation for the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2012 regular season.
His relief pitching appearances in the National League Championship Series did not leave any trace that the pitcher had any difficulty throwing. However, with the announcement on Thursday and the pair of homers he gave up against the Cardinals in Game 6
brought to fore what the pitcher was actually going through.
Chris Narveson appeared in 30 games in the 2011 regular season whereby he pitched 161.2 innings, giving up 82 runs and allowing 160 hits with a 4.45 ERA. There were a total of 11 wins to his credit and he lost eight games with a .257 BAA.
However, that which proved a disaster not only for him but for the team’s aspirations to make it into the World Series was his bid in Game 6. The pitcher allowed five runs, four hits, in merely two innings with a 22.50 ERA against the Cardinals that brought
havoc on the Brewers, losing the post-season game only to see an early exit from the season.
