Milwaukee Brewers rattle New York Mets 9-6 – MLB Recap
Milwaukee Brewers rattled the New York Mets 9-6 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, September 15 at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Brewers took control of the game and kept the Mets under pressure throughout. Their pitchers and hitters were exceptional in the field and won in the end.
"It's just one of those things where we need some help, obviously, But at the same time we want to get this thing done. I've been swinging the bat pretty well for more than a couple of weeks, I just keep coming back to the ballpark and working hard. That's all you can do," Rickie Weeks said on his team’s performance and explained to the media with confidence.
Starter Shaun Marcum pitched four innings and received four runs and seven hits. He did very well on the mound and maintained his ERA at 3.91.
Relief pitcher Brandon Kintzler also played well and showed his class. He pitched one solid inning and allowed only one hit. He did not receive any run and struck-out two on his 2.45 ERA.
Closer John Axford pitched one inning and allowed two runs and one hit along with one homer. He retired two and maintained his 4.84 ERA.
On the other hand, the Mets' starter Jenrry Mejia did not play well and lost the game for his team. He pitched three innings and allowed five runs and six hits on his blistering 10.80 ERA.
“His command was off, That's going to be something we certainly have to make sure is first and foremost. It's tough to pitch up here behind in the count," New York manager Terry Collins said of Mejia.
He was the main player who certainly played a huge part in the Mets defeat.
His team-mate Jeremy Hefner pitched one inning and received one run and a hit along with a home-run on his 4.99 ERA.
Justin Hampson also did poorly and allowed one run and one hit. He retired one batter and could not maintain his ERA which rose to 4.91.
