Milwaukee Brewers roster accommodate top pitcher Zack Greinke
The Milwaukee Brewers are active this spring and they have a training period that has put them in the spotlight for the Major League Baseball challenge. The team is actively working towards preparing the squad for the regular season challenge in the National
League Central division. Zack Greinke happens to be the new player in and he’s with the team in Phoenix, Arizona, training for his pitching duties with the club. However, the ace has avoided direct contact with the teammates and the Brewers’ roster has been
paying attention to the situation.
Zack Greinke has been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder and he’s been dealing with the situation, cautiously. The club isn’t forcing the player into a predicament he wouldn’t be comfortable with and the players understand. Number 14 Casey McGehee is
the club’s third baseman and he’s a number neighbour to the number 13 Greinke.
McGehee told the press he believes Greinke is a serious man and is focused on his work. That, he believes, is the quality of top pitcher and there are not going to be distractions that would influence his role on the mound. Casey went on to say that he believes
Greinke blocks all the tension out of his mind. He has seen the pitcher work on the field but hasn’t interacted with him that much.
“Do I joke around with him like I do with Prince [Fielder]? No,” McGehee said. “But I don’t know [Greinke] that well, either. That will come. He has an under-the-radar sense of humour.”
Yovani Gallardo, second baseman for the club, is batched in with Greinke and Shaun Marcum in a workout group and in his opinion, the pitcher is reserved. “You can ask anyone in here and they might say the same thing about me, that I’m quiet,” Gallardo said.
“We’ve had some great conversations, joking around or talking about pitching. When we have conversations about pitching, he might be the first one to make a comment about it or recommend something. He’s obviously had great success, so he’s one of the guys
to go to.”
The next question is whether Greinke has gotten to know Gallardo or not. The second baseman replied with a smile. “Not really,” he said. “He’s even quieter than I am.”
