Milwaukee Brewers sign three-year contract with Aramis Ramirez – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, December 12, got three year contract with Aramis Ramirez, pending a physical. One of the top third baseman around, Aramis Ramirez was a free agent lately, previously a part of the Chicago Cubs.
This will for sure intensify the rivalry between the two teams especially after a complete overhaul of the Chicago Cubs. The team are looking for stronger players to prepare the squad for the next season, while the Brewers are already in possession of some
really exciting players.
But Ramirez’s contract with the Milwaukee Brewers holds high significance. While details are trickling gradually, what has become clear for now is that Ramirez will get from $34 million to $37 million dollars in the three-year contract.
"There's no problems there, but it's the point where it's the end of an era," Kinzer said of Ramirez, whom the Cubs acquired in July 2003 from the Pirates in a five-player deal. "They have some things they have to do and at this point in his career, [Rafael
Furcal] got his ring, and now 'Ramy' wants his.”
Also, it was suggested that Ramirez wanted to stay in the National League, as was asserted by Paul Kinzer, Aramis’ agent. That the Chicago Cubs may have been interested in re-signing the player was something that Kinzer responded with “That ship has sailed.”
“He wants to go somewhere where he has a shot at a competitive team. He loves Chicago and it hurts for him to leave, but that's part of the sport."
That competitive team could well be the Milwaukee Brewers given the impressive record that the team holds. The 33-year-old player with his .306 average and 26 homers not to mention the 93 RBIs, in the last season came forth as a dependable slugger.
The offensive help that this player will lend is enormous for the Milwaukee Brewers with .503 slugging percentage. His arrival in the club will surely be a morale booster for the team, helping it re-energize especially after the recently emerged case of
the prominent slugger Ryan Braun, and Prince Fielder’s being free agents.
