Milwaukee Bucks 93 – Philadelphia 76ers 87
John Salmons had 19 points and eight assists to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 93-87 overtime victory against the Philadelphia 76ers at Bradley Centre on Saturday night. The victory snapped Philadelphia's three-game winning streak.
Guard Brandon Jennings added 13 points while centre Andrew Bogut contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Bucks. Forwards Luc Mbah a Moute and Drew Gooden chipped in with 12 points each, while Gooden also grabbed 12 rebounds in the defeat.
Elton Brand racked up 20 points and 12 rebounds while Jrue Holiday posted 15 points and 10 assists in the defeat. Thaddeus Young came off the bench with 14 points and Jodie Meeks finished with 13 points for the Sixers.
Philadelphia were ahead 48-39 at half time, led by Meeks’s 13 points and four assists. Trailing by nine points at half time, Mbah a Moute’s free throws, Salmons’s put back and back-to-back layups from Corey Maggette tied the game at 61-61 heading into the
final stanza.
Both teams scored 18 possessions apiece in the fourth quarter and sent the game into overtime. Jennings scored nine of his 13 points in O.T. and the Bucks scored four unanswered points in the last 13 seconds to seal the victory.
Golden State Warriors 99 – Dallas Mavericks 92
Monta Ellis scored a game-high 32 points, as the Golden State Warriors snapped their six-game losing streak against the Dallas Mavericks with an impressive 99-92 win at the Oracle Arena on Saturday. The defeat extended the Mavericks losing streak to three
games, but they still remain in third place in the Western Conference standings.
Forward-centre David Lee added 16 points and eight rebounds while Dorell Wright had 13 points and six rebounds in the victory. Shawn Marion came off the bench with a team-high 21 points and eight boards in the losing effort.
The 33-year-old Jason Terry registered 17 points and Dirk Nowitzki finished with 16 points for the Mavericks. Both teams shot 52 percent from the field in the opening quarter but Dallas managed to take a 29-28 lead into the second.
The Mavericks extended their lead to 10 points early in the second quarter and carried a 50-48 lead into the locker room. The Warriors responded with a 15-4 run midway through the third quarter and converted the two-point half time deficit into a 72-67 advantage
heading into the fourth.
Golden State held an 89-79 lead early in the fourth quarter, but Dallas turned it on down the stretch and cut the deficit to 96-92. Stephen Curry’s free throw and Thornton’s lay-up shot then secured the victory with 26 seconds left on the clock.
Los Angeles Clippers 98 – Oklahoma City Thunder 92
Forward Blake Griffin finished with 26 points and 16 rebounds, as the Los Angeles Clippers downed the Oklahoma City Thunder 98-92, at Staples Centre on Saturday night. It was the Thunder's second defeat in three games this season. In addition to that, the
victory snapped the Clippers two-game losing streak.
Eric Gordon scored 18 points while DeAndre Jordan chalked up 12 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Kevin Durant pulled off 23 points and six rebounds while James Harden came off the bench with 14 points in the defeat.
The Clippers trailed 49-37 at half time and Philadelphia extended their lead to 12 points in the opening minutes of the third quarter. However, Los Angeles used a 10-0 run, to cut the deficit to 57-55 with six minutes to go in the quarter.
The game was tied at 65 with a minute and a half left in the third, but the Thunder went on a 6-3 run in the next minute to take a 71-68 lead into the fourth quarter.
Both teams were able to keep the game close throughout the final stanza and tied the game at 92 with just over a minute to go until the final buzzer. The Clippers scored six unanswered points in the last minute to seal the home victory.
