Milwaukee Bucks and San Antonio Spurs looking for last minute deals: NBA Draft Update
As the 2011 National Basketball Association Draft draws near, the league has been filled with the flurry of draft pick trade offers. Teams which won the first round picks through the lottery are looking to either acquire the top
draft prospects or trade them to have a veteran player in the side.
On the other hand the teams, who don’t possess the first round picks, are looking for deals in order to move up in the draft. Some of the deals create fortunes for the teams and some don’t, but these trades took place every year,
as every franchise has their own agenda to follow in order to strengthen their rosters.
Milwaukee Bucks and San Antonio Spurs are exactly doing the same. The Bucks have got the 10th pick in the draft and earlier there were rumours that they will make an effort to acquire a threatening point guard to their
line-up with this option. As the team requires a threat in their offense and the deficiency was the root cause of their poor offensive performance during the regular-season.
However, the latest news according to the sources is that the Bucks are open to the offers for the 10th pick and wouldn’t mind to include Corey Maggette in the trade. The Bucks are not doing this trade just to have flexibility
in terms of salary, but because of Corey’s deprived game in the last season and age factor was also counted, since he is about reach the 32nd year of his life.
The Denver Nuggets were looking to have a pick in the first 10, but they are offering Ray Felton in return, which doesn’t make it appealing for the Bucks.
In contrast to them the Spurs are looking to trade their veteran point guard Tony Parker. Parker, who tallied 17.5 points in each game of the previous season, has been with the franchise right from the beginning of his NBA career.
However, now the Spurs are in talks with the Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors to shift Parker.
The 29 year old player has swatted assist with an average of 6.6 and clutched 3.1 rebounds in every game. Parker has signed a $50 million contract extension with the Spurs for over a span of four years and was looking to start
it from the next season.
As far as Parker’s replacement is concerned the Spurs are targeting Klay Thompson, the son of the former first overall draft pick Mychal Thompson. The 6 ft. 7 junior can play at both shooting guard and small forward position. The
young talent is devastating from the perimeter, as he got a killer precision. During his junior season Thompson led the Pac-10 in scoring.
The Spurs are now looking to refill their jar with some fresh blood, so that after grooming the fresh talent they will make a run for the title.
