Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards - Underdogs ready to surprise in the 2012-13 NBA season - Opinion (Part
5)
Milwaukee Bucks
Monta Ellis, Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova are three of the most under rated players in the league and so is their team, the Milwaukee Bucks.
Scott Skiles’ unit has been a genuine playoff contender for some time, but till now lacked the cutting edge. That edge arrived along with Monta Ellis.
The shooting guard who was traded in lieu of oft injured Andrew Bogut last season is one best offensive players in the league, and has been in the list of top ten scorers for the last two years. He has the ability to create his
own offense, is not a ball blocker, and knows how to make other people around him better. And above all, he has a back court partner in fast improving Brandon Jennings. The point guard has a style of play, quite similar to that of Ellis, which relies mainly
on his speed and pin point shooting.
The only weakness in that two pronged guard formation is defense, and that is where Ersan Ilyasova and Drew Gooden step in. Ilyasova had a break out last season and the Bucks would want him to continue the good work.
They have a decent bench to back up the trio and barring a major slump, this side should finish at least 7th in the Eastern Conference.
Washington Wizards
John Wall and the Wizards want to win – desperately.
The point guard who was drafted as the number one pick two years back has so far failed to do justice with his talent, and after some good changes to the roster in the past one year, the stage is set for him to finally deliver.
The Wizards added Nene to the mix late last season and now that he is fit, an Andray Blatche – less front court looks settled with Kevin Seraphin also making his presence felt.
Their biggest draw will however be the number third pick of this year’s draft, Bradley Beal. Beal is an explosive winger and together with Wall – who is still recovering from a knee injury – he can form a lethal combo, one for
the future.
