Milwaukee Bucks centre Andrew Bogut out for 12 weeks - NBA news
Finally, good news for Milwaukee Bucks as Andrew Bogut will be back in action much earlier than expected.
Bucks’ currently sailing in murky waters with 20 loses, had suffered a serious blow on Jan. 25 in the match against Houston Rockets. They did win the match comfortably, 105-99 but lost their centre early in the 1st frame.
After a collision, he was earlier diagnosed with a sprained ankle and was seen wearing a boot. Detailed examination revealed much dire nature of injury as he fractured his left ankle and will now forced to stay off the court indefinitely.
This news struck Bucks as lightning, because ankle injury for athletes usually turns out as a full stop to their careers. While recovering from it for a player who puts a lot of pressure on that point takes a lot of time.
Earlier it was decided that a surgery is inevitable for Bogut’s ankle and he was undergoing series of tests and examination for the said procedure.
“Everything is kind of relying on this next scan." Bogut said that the swelling has gone but the injury is still painful he hoped that he will return by the end of season.
It seems that his prayer has been answered as on last Tuesday Bucks’ general manager John Hammond disclosed, that a CT scan on Andrew’s ankle has shown that his ankle is healing properly and surgery will not be required anymore.
Irony is not a new word to be associated with this Big Australian athlete; being the No. 1 overall pick in 2005 he had not played a full season since his rookie year.
He had been the victim of most unfortunate events, that included never-ending injuries such as sprained left foot, dislocated right elbow a broken right hand along with wrist sprain and the now the fractured ankle.
He had been averaging 11.3 points, 8.3 boards and 2.6 assists per game and most certainly he played a cardinal role for Bucks’.
In his absentia his role was divided amongst Jon Brockman, Drew Gooden and rookie Jon Leuer but that has reflected poorly upon the team’s performance as Bucks are currently on a 2 game losing streak and are on the 9th
position in the Eastern Conference.
Even after the recent development he has to stay out of the game for 8 to 12 weeks clearly missing the season.
He is scheduled to attend the rehabilitation program from this week and one can only wish him a speedy recovery, but for Milwaukee they will have to come up with a strategy to turn things around in their favour without Andrew.
