Milwaukee Bucks come from 27 points down to squeak out a 93-92 victory over Chicago Bulls: NBA Recap
Milwaukee Bucks came to Chicago with a 9 game losing streak to the Bulls and it seemed that the Bucks were going down again as they trailed by as much as 27 points late in the third period. However, somehow they managed to crawl
back and carve out a win.
The Bulls helped their cause by scoring only 14 points in the last 15 minutes of the game, as the Milwaukee Bucks edged out Chicago Bulls 93-92 here at United Center on Monday night.
Chicago led by 10 points at halftime, and then hit a flurry of three pointers to extend their lead to 27 in the third period before throwing away the game in the final 12 minutes. For the Bulls fans, this loss brought memories
of their loss to Sacramento Kings on December 21 2009, in which the Kings came back from 35 points down to win 102-98.
A John Henson free throw put the Bucks up 7-2 early in the first period. Tobias Harris tipped one in to put Milwaukee up 13-8 before the Bulls found their rhythm and they started scoring those baskets at a rapid rate. The Bucks
were up by one on 19-18 when the Bulls sprung into action and finished the period with an 8-0 run going up 26-19.
Bucks kept the Bulls in check early in the second period and an Ekpe Udoh free throw for Milwaukee had them within 27-31. Chicago started pulling ahead later in the period and pushed their lead to 50-40 by halftime. They started
the third period hot and a Carlos Boozer putback had them up 60-44 early in the period. A 7 nil burst extended their lead to 67-46 midway around the period. Three consecutive shots from behind the arc opened up a solid 27 points lead with 2:50 minutes to go
in the quarter.
Milwaukee started the recovery immediately and closed the period with a 12-2 run to reduce the deficit down to 80-63.
The Bucks got off to a dream start in the final period as they scored the first 13 points of the quarter to make it a 4 point game on 76-80. Hamilton responded with a pull up jumper, but what followed were two consecutive strikes
from downtown, one for Mike Dunleavy and Ersan Ilyasova each.
The score was tied on 84 after a Beno Udrih jumper for the Bucks; it was tied on 86 and then again on 88. The Bucks gained a one point advantage on 93-92 with about a minute on the regulation. Bulls missed a flurry of chances in
the closing moments as they went down against the Bucks.
Ersan Ilyasova led the Bucks with 18 points and 6 rebounds off the bench while John Henson, Beno Udrih and Ekpe Udoh chipped in with 11 points each.
Richard Hamilton was the pick of the Chicago players with the night high 30 points while Carlos Boozer had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulls.
