Milwaukee Bucks continue to ride hot; Scorch the Portland Trail Blazers 116-87 - NBA Recap
On Tuesday night the rejuvenated Milwaukee Bucks took their winning streak to 6 games after handing a 116-87 defeat to Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden.
Bucks had 6 players in double figures, led by Drew Gooden’s 19 and Carlos Delfino’s 16. Brandon Jennings, Mike Dunleavy and reserve Beno Udrih poured in 15 apiece. Monta Ellis continued to make his presence felt with 14 points
and 9 assists as the Bucks maintained their charge towards a playoff spot.
"Everybody's out there having fun, sharing the ball and everybody's on the same page trying to get some wins," Ellis said. "That's all that matters to us."
LaMarcus Aldridge recorded 21 points and 12 boards while Wesley Matthews also tallied 21 to go with his season high 9 rebounds for the Trail Blazers who skidded down to a 2 game losing streak. Guard Raymond Felton had 18 and Nicolas
Batum chipped in with 12 as Portland faced their worst margin of defeat in this season.
This defeat left the new interim coach Kaleb Canales startled.
"Too many crooked numbers up here on the stat sheet, we didn't do a good job defensively. And you've got to give them credit. They're a hot team and they played like they've been playing and we didn't take them out of their game."
After some neck to neck action Portland took a slender 20-15 lead at the back end of the first quarter, but the Bucks changed hands 25-23 with a 10-3 run by the end of segment.
Milwaukee raced away early in the 2nd with a 23-9 spurt and claimed a huge 48-32 advantage, Portland however trimmed that down to 43-54 with an 11-6 by the end of 1st half.
Felton opened the 3rd segment with a layup and reduced the gap to 54-45 but a pull up jumper from Jennings started a 17-4 passage for the Bucks, who left the hosts reeling at 71-49 midway through the frame. The visitors
cruised through the segment and entered the last 12 minutes of the game comfortably placed at an 82-64 advantage.
Bucks opened the 4th period with a 13-4 spurt and pushed their lead to 95-68. The burst put the game to bed and the teams played through the motions after that.
