Milwaukee Bucks edge Toronto Raptors; San Antonio Spurs hold Philadelphia 76ers – NBA Roundup Feb 8
Milwaukee Bucks 105 vs. Toronto Raptors 99
Up against the Milwaukee Bucks at home, the Toronto Raptors were stunned by one of their own.
Carlos Delfino, who represented the Raps in the 2007-08 season, pounded a game high 25 points including 6 daggers from downtown to lead the Bucks to 105-99 in a high paced offensive extravaganza. Drew Gooden finished the night
with 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Bucks who had six players in double scoring figures.
With the win, the Bucks snapped a three game losing skid while sending the Raps to their third loss in a row.
In a fiercely fought game, the teams were tied at 49 inside the last three minutes of the first half, before the Bucks sprinted to a 15-6 run to take a 64-55 lead early in the third quarter.
DeMar DeRozan who topped the Raptors with 25 points, dropped two consecutive three’s to start a 12-4 response, which was capped with two of his free throws, tying the game yet again at 67 apiece. Both the teams slugged it out in
the ensuing passage and were locked at 82 each inside the first five minutes of the fourth.
That was the point when the Buck erupted with a 12-2 foray, with Delfino providing the killer blow from distance for a 94-85 advantage. For the Raptors, that was the beginning of the end.
San Antonio Spurs 100 vs. Philadelphia 76ers 90
Tony Parker had one of his best games of the season with 37 points as the San Antonio Spurs shut out the Philadelphia 76ers, 100-90, at the Wells Fargo centre on Tuesday night.
Parker shot 12-of-24 from the floor, shot 13-of-13 from the stripe and also dished out 8 assists for the Spurs, who also got 18 points from Gary Neal, 16 points and 11 rebounds from Tim Duncan and 15 from Tiago Splitter.
The Sixers, who have turned a few necks with their resurgence this season, kept on knocking at the door throughout the game, but whenever they moved within striking distance, the Spurs came prepared with a counter punch.
Trailing by as many as 12 points early in the fourth quarter, the Sixers led by 22 points from Lou Williams, kept on fighting in the face of some phenomenal shooting from the Spurs. With 1:46 left on the clock, Williams knocked
down a three to bring his team within 5, 95-90. However, that was the closest they got, as Parker raced to four consecutive points to put the game to bed.
