Milwaukee Bucks give injury update on Carlos Delfino
Carlos Delfino, the starting small forward for the Milwaukee Bucks, has missed his team’s last seven games with concussive symptoms after suffering a blow to the head with Pacers forward
Danny Granger on 5 November.
But according to a press release by the Bucks, the latest medical tests done on Delfino indicate he could make his return to the Bucks’ in a couple of weeks.
"The evaluation showed Delfino to be about 90 percent free of his concussion-like symptoms. Drs. McCrea and Idarraga recommended 2-to-3 days of additional rest for Delfino followed by
a few days of progressive low-impact physical activity (stationery bike riding or elliptical). Based on his daily progress, Delfino may follow his low-impact activity with progressive basketball activities,” Bucks General Manager John Hammond announced in
the release.
Delfino, the 25-year-old Argentinian, had been averaging 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in seven starts this year. The sixth-year player, who played well for the Argentinian
team at the FIBA World Championship in September, has shot 38 per cent from three-point range so far this season.
Hammond gave a timetable for Delfino’s return but said with head injuries, nothing is certain. "The nature of head and neck injury recovery makes it a slow process which is difficult to
predict. Without any setbacks, Delfino could return to normal basketball activity in approximately two weeks."
The Bucks, who made the play-offs last year for the first time in nine years, are off to a rocky 5-9 start so far this season. They are currently mired in a four-game losing streak with
their next game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday 26 November.
Second-year player Brandon Jennings is leading the Bucks with averages of 16.3 points and 5.7 assists while Andrew Bogut is averaging a double-double with 11.6 points and 10.9 rebounds.
Delfino is second on the team in scoring and first in steals, averaging 1.6 per game.
