Milwaukee Bucks hand Detroit Pistons resounding 103 – 82 defeat – NBA Recap
The Milwaukee Bucks proved too strong for the Detroit Pistons in their matchup at the Bradley Center. The Bucks, who were without injured star Andrew Bogut, made light work of the Pistons and handed them an over 20 point defeat, final score 103 – 82.
Brandon Jennings was the outstanding player for Milwaukee, with a game high 21 points and 5 assists to boot. Mike Dunleavy was impressive, coming off the bench to score 20 points while Drew Gooden, standing in for Bogut, amassed 16 points.
The Pistons had 5 players in double figures for scoring, but no one was able to take the game by the scruff of the neck and help their team impose its will on the proceedings. Tayshaun Prince had 14 points and 8 rebounds. Greg Monroe, the young and talented
centre, secured another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Rodney Stuckey was though the most impressive with a team high 19 points and 6 assists to his name.
The Bucks were fast coming out of the block and hit Detroit early with a 12 – 4 burst to open the game. The first quarter was completely one-way traffic as the home team dominated and scored a whopping 30 points. On the end, they held the Pistons to just
16 points, giving them a commanding lead just after one period of play.
The Pistons though did have some fight in them and they showed that in the second period when piling on 25 points. The Bucks, for one reason or the other, weren’t able to show the level of play like that in the first period and managed only 17 points, meaning
that at half time they led by a lesser margin, 47 – 41.
The stage was thus set for Detroit to mount a comeback in the third period, but it never happened. The visitors looked flat coming out of the break whereas the home team was reinvigorated, and went for the kill. By the end of the third quarter, Milwaukee
Bucks had increased their lead to 75 – 60.
Pistons didn’t have much left in the tank for the fourth quarter either and kept on bleeding points, the clock finally running out at 103 – 82.
