Min Hao, Chia Wen clear first hurdle in Mixed Doubles event of 2012 Singapore International Series
The spirited Mixed Doubles team Min Hao Tseng-Chia Wen Lai stamped its supremacy over Po Han Yang-Yi Chu Shih and powered their way to pre quarter-finals of Li-Ning Singapore International Series on August 15, 2012.
Both pairs, who belong to Chinese Taipei, remained head-to-head for 30 minutes before concluding this clash of the compatriots with decisive figures of 14-21, 21-17 and 21-10.
Po Han and Yi Chu, who were underrated in this event, stunned their high ranked rivals in the opening game but they lacked good finishing skills and surrendered in the ending two sets.
Meanwhile, the victorious duo played with great fighting spirit and managed to save their honour.
They were bit sluggish in the opening game which cost them a vital match point. They dropped valuable points straight away in the beginning and then never came out of this deficit throughout the first set.
The twosome of Po Han and Yi Chu made the best out of this opportunity and gained an early advantage. They finished first half with a respectable score position of 11 and then magnified the impact by registering a striking total of 21-14.
However, it proved their first and last success in this international series as they never could repeat this performance in following games.
Min Hao and Chia Wen, who are placed at seventh spot in tournament ranking, found their lost form in the very next set.
They forged a fruitful chemistry and completely outclassed their lower ranked challengers in all areas of the game.
They set the ball rolling with few consecutive points in the beginning and then maintained this momentum throughout this crucial segment. They remained a couple of steps ahead of their competitors and left them far behind with a winning margin of 21-17.
The decider was even more impressive as Min Hao and Chia Wen employed all of their experience and brilliance in the game and sent their compatriot shuttlers packing.
They unleashed a flurry of masterly crafted strokes and enthralled Po Han-Yi Chu with a staggering knock of 21-10.
Now they are scheduled to meet Indonesian couple Mohamad Rizki Dely Nugraha-Wulan Sari Sri in pre quarter-finals.
