Mind-bending Relativity! Anyone want to explain the volume effects when travelling near the speed of light?

This has to do with time dilation and special relativity, anyone want to explain what would happen if you travelled near the speed of light, what things might look like - or would nothing change for you, but everything would look weird to someone in an outside frame of reference??

  1. Everything you see would appear curved, with objects directly in front of you blue-shifted, and those on the side red-shifted.

  2. it depends what you're looking at.  or more accurately, how fast it's moving compared to you.  if it's moving with you, then it would look the same.  if not, things generally get warped and doppler shifted.  i found a reasonably good site for this the other day,
