  1. When I said this to my children , it was a reminder to use their  manners, and to respect others.

Another way to say it would be:

Represent what you have been taught. And don't act as if you have been raised by animals.

People see you , even if you don't see them.

And parents talk to these people and find out everything you thought you got away with.

Be appropriate at all times, and you will always be proud of yourself.

  4. when writing in cursive and getting in a hurry--p's and q's can often get confused if not carefully written.  My teacher would say--"mind your p's and q's".

  5. Pints and quarts (of beer).  In the British pubs, the expression has two meanings:

    1.  Keep track of your own glasses and do not drink from someone else's.

    2.  Near "last call", it is a warning to the patrons that they better reload their pints and quarts (P's and Q's) before the clock reaches the magic hour.

It can also mean to mind your own business (an extension of minding your own glasses)

  10. I heard that they were Pints and Quarts.  I think the story is that in the British pubs, when a fight would break out, the bartenders would say "Mind your P's and Q's" meaning, watch out, don't let your drink spill.

edited to add:  i just read the wiki...i guess it wasn't fights, but consumption that the bartenders wanted them to mind!  thanks for the link!
