The latest charts detailing which games were played the most on Xbox LIVVE are in and it turns out the building is better than killing as more people played Minecraft than they did Black Ops.
The Xbox 360 is known primarily as the hardcore gamers’ console as it focuses more on shooters and games with a serious tone as compared to the more well-rounded PlayStation 3 and the causal gamer friendly, Nintendo Wii.
So it has to come as some surprise when Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition found itself above a Call of Duty title on the most played games on Xbox LIVE.
In 10th place was Epic’s conclusion to Marcus Fenix’s trilogy in the Gears of War series as the third instalment in the series still has a few gamers interested in destroying the Locust and the Lambent.
Dragon Shouts are still very relevant as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim comes in at number nine on the most played charts with NBA 2K12 keeping all the ballers busy in eighth place.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may be over three years old but that does not mean that gamers don’t like the half-way game between the original and Modern Warfare 3.
Halo: Reach comes in at sixth place with the prequel to the series still attracting gamers with its multiplayer action and at the same time it seems that ‘soccer’ is still actively followed and played by Xbox LIVE gamers as FIFA 12 comes in at fourth.
The sharper of the readers will have noted that there was no mention of which game holds the number five spot on the charts; that would be Battlefield 3 as it continues its only in Battlefield campaign.
Black Ops comes in at third with Minecraft finishing runner-up in the week, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 remains the most played game on the Xbox 360. For those readers who thought Minecraft was number one on the charts can breathe a sigh of relief
knowing that the world is not going to end any time soon. That is until next week’s chart comes out and one finds out that Minecraft is number one.
