Minella For Value vying to win Flat Race at Cork
Minella For Value is eyeing to seal a sterling success in the Pegus Horse Feed Point-To-Point Series Final Inh Flat Race which will be held at Cork racecourse on Monday, April 9.
The high-profile contest over 2m4f distance is scheduled to start at 4:00 (GMT). For the prize money worth €6,210, the John J. Nallen-trained brown gelding will compete against More Madness, Presenting Rebel, By Design, Ring Ben, Active Warrior, Sam Cavallaro,
Streams Of Whiskey, Sullivans Hill, Why Surrender, Knockainey, De Chissler, Lenamore Boy, Gullivar and Waka Waka.
Since making his debut on July 5, 2011, Minella For Value has been delivering fabulous performances on various tracks.
After finishing second in his maiden race, the six-year-old talented gelding moved forward to grab 6th spot against 15 rivals in the very next outing on October 4.
The maverick sprinter gained a runner-up position again on October 12 and clinched 3rd top spot in another race on October 26.
The brilliant horse extended his form to 2012 and finished as runner-up in a tough contest on February 5. He was a favourite runner for that event.
Finally, Minella For Value broke his maiden on March 25. Being 4-5 favourite, he defeated 10 horses in the Maurice Obrien, Agricultural Contractors, Liscarroll 6yo Geldings Maiden (Div 2).
This epic triumph has made the gelding a favourite contender for the Flat Race title. Currently, he is leading the betting market. The bookmakers have hinged a lot of hopes with him. His trainer is also optimistic about his success.
Minella For Value’s chances to finish first in today’s race are more than 90 percent. However, some of his opponents like More Madness and Presenting Rebel can give him enough tough time.
More Madness achieved three runner-up ranks in a row from October 23, 2011 to January 1, 2012. The Terence O’Brien-trained bay gelding moved forward to accomplish his maiden victory on February 26. He again finished second in his last outing on March 10.
On the other hand, Presenting Rebel superbly clinched a runner-up position in a race on January 29, 2012. The trainee of Robert Tyner went on to finish first in his last start on March 11.
