Question:

Mineral Powders causing breakouts?

by  |  earlier

I have this one mineral loose powder from revlon and every time i use it i start to break out. My friend said that she also used a mineral powder not from revlon but it made her breakout too.

Today my friend mentioned that she thought it was the brush that it comes with.

Is this true? Why is this happening? And is there a certain brand that won't have this effect?

  1. could be too many oils in it.

i have oily skin and i use sheer cover which is a mineral makeup and it contins anti-oxidants so it helps my skin and clears my spots too

www.sheercover.com/co.uk dependin on where u are.

  2. Try puritycosmetics.co.uk. It is really good!

  3. You should wash your brushes once to twice a week, if your using a dirty brush yes, but mineral makeups also contain a lot of fillers and cornstarch, a lot more than just minerals, so you might want to read what is on the label.

  4. i  doubt that the mineral powder would make your face breakout but maybe because revlon is a cheaper make it isnt pure minerals i would recomend using bare essentials they are brilliant think its around £23 but its well worth it hope that helps

  5. I use the Mineral Veil finishing powder from Bare Minerals, and sometimes it makes my face itch.  The brushes probably have something to do with it too because you have to use the brush over and over again to apply and blend in the products.  The Bare Minerals foundation doesn't bother me at all.  Drugstore mineral makeup is not as finely milled as the more expensive versions so the particles are grainy and not as soft, and that might be part of the problem too.  Also, make sure you apply mineral products will a natural-hair brush, not a synthetic one.  If you must use synthetic, make sure it's very, very soft.  Finally, mineral makeup usually has bismuth in it, and some people cannot tolerate this.

  6. Mineral powder is either a love/hate thing. I have the same reaction, and I have found it with almost all mineral powders. Some people just react differently to them. It has something to do with the ingredients. The only one I've had any luck with is Physicians formula as they are talc and bismuth free which is usually what causes this reaction. If you like powder foundation though I would recommend MAybelline purestay. It has never caused me a problem. I also recommend MAkeupalley.com, they have many reviews of almost every product imaginable and you can check by people with your similar skin type etc. It has saved me wasting a lot of money on stupid products.
