Question:

Mineral powder or cream foundation?

Hi there,

I want to get a new foundation, but I don't know whether to go for a mineral powder foundation, or a cream or liquid one.

I've seen videos where people apply cream foundation with a brush which looks good, but is it easy and which gives better coverage?

I'd like to have well covered but translucent looking skin.

  1. Don't believe what you see on infomercials - they lie! Go with the cream one and apply with your fingers as normal.

  2. Mineral powder is FAB! It coveres up spots really well but still looks natural! It's kind to sensitive skin and dosn't give you spots, (unlike cream foundation!)

    Hope I helped! xx

  3. Mineral Powder Foundation:

This is what I use...I have used cream foundation in the past, but I like the feel of the mineral powder better..it feels very light and looks natural. My whole routine from foundation to lipcolor, takes about 10 minutes....

  4. High quality mineral powder, like Bare Minerals give a natural, translucent coverage, and you can add spot treatment as well. Cream or liquid tend to crease after a while where Bare Minerals stas all day until you wash it off. I like Bare Minerals for it uses only natural ingredients.

  5. Its all about your skin type.

Mineral is good for normal/oily skin, but if you are a little dry it can look slightly cakey.

Creme foundation can be very thick if you don't need a lot of coverage.

Liquid is good for normal skin, and you can get all types of coverage, from sheer to full. You can also get illuminating types too.

As a guide you could look at all of the foundations on the MAC website (www.maccosmetics.com or .co.uk) They have creme, liquid and mineral types, and it would give you an idea of the types available.

The best way to find out for sure is to go to a counter and ask the artist which type she thinks would be best for your skin. She would know better than anyone.

Good luck finding your perfect match!! :)

  6. i think u should buy a cream one because

the powder ones r really bad

    it just comes off

but cream ones u dont need any brush  u can use your hand

    hope it helps

  7. Powder is for oily and spotty skin because it soaks up excess oil and cream is for a medium coverage. Liquid is the other extreme and for dry skin. Cream is best for combination or normal skin.

  8. Mineral powder is much better for your skin as it doesn't clog your pours and doesn't go shiny either and it's so easy to apply.

  9. Cream foundation can get cakey sometimes, and heavy. Loreal Bare Minerals compressed powder works very well.

  10. I use Physicians Formula Mineral powder make up and I love it.  I live in the South where the heat and humidity are high and the liquid foundation just make my face feel icky.  I have found that I have the same coverage with powder mineral makeup, but without the heavy feeling on my face (plus my skin has cleared up!).  I'm quite pleased with it.

  11. mineral powder works really well

it gives coverage but doesnt look cakey

  12. Try 17 mineral foundation, its a cross between a  powder and a cream foundation and gives really good coverage
