Mingtian Fu defeats Hsiao Ma Pai in Women’s Singles first round: Li Ning China Masters Super Series
Mingtian Fu made her presence felt in the event by beating Chinese Taipei’s Hsiao Ma Pai in the Women’s Singles first round of the 2011 Li Ning China Masters Super Series, in China, on Wednesday, September 14.
Mingtian has been performing well in recent events and the shuttler is presently ranked at Number 28 in the world standings of Women’s Singles. She played in a composed manner for three sets of 54 minutes and emerged as the winner with a close margin in
the deciding game.
In the opening points of the first game, the Singaporean failed to make an impact over her opponent as she made many mistakes and remained struggling to find a good flow. The Taipei shuttler delivered a wonderful performance in the first game by playing
positive badminton. Mingtian failed to play aggressively and lost the set with a considerable margin of 14-21.
The second set of the match was a complete reversal of the opening game as Mingtian played to her full potential and dominated the game with a wonderful difference. She played planned badminton and targeted all the weak areas of her opponent. Until the interval,
the Singaporean was in a strong position by reaching 11-6.
After the break, Mingtian played in the same aggressive fashion and left no room for her opponent to score points. Ma Pai employed many tactics with a touch of variation in her strokes but the Singaporean was everywhere in the court. Mingtian finished the
second set in fabulous fashion with a remarkable difference of 21-13.
In the third set, both shuttlers employed all of their skills to dominate the game but could not create any gap as both were playing impressive badminton. In the concluding phase of the final set, both females played fast to finish-off the match. However,
it was Mingtian who played well at the end and won the battle with the score of 21-19. The three-set encounter finished with a 14-21, 21-13 and 21-19 score on the board.
