Mini-MegaRamp to make its European debut at freestyle ch. in Switzerland
The Landiwiese Park in Zurich, Switzerland, will be celebrating the European premiere of mini-MegaRamp skateboarding contest and BMX demo at the freestyle ch. event on September 24 to 25.
Even though the mini-MegaRamp is not of the same size as the ones seen in America, it is still considerably mammoth-sized. The installation runs a total 53 metres in length. The riders will drop down the 9 metre high roll-in, cross an almost 8 metre gap
and then ride up the 5.5 metre high quarter.
Talking about the mini-MegaRamp installed in Landiwiese Park, the head of event at freestyle.ch, Erwin Flury, said, “Our goal is to keep freestyle.ch original and innovative. By launching a European premiere in the skateboarding and BMX category we are doing
just that through our collaboration with the American event developers MegaRamp Productions.”
The European event will have renowned skateboarders and BMX riders from all around the globe travelling to Zurich to show off their mini-MegaRamp prowess and treat the crowd to a memorable weekend.
The list of skateboarders confirmed for the event include America’s Andy MacDonald, Australia’s Jake Brown, Canada’s Pierre-Luc Gagnon and Brazil’s Sandro Dias. America’s Adam Taylor, who clinched the silver medal in Skateboard Big Air at X Games 17 last
month, will also be in attendance during the weekend.
Talking to a reporter about the upcoming event and the mini-MegaRamp, Taylor said, “I am super excited to have mini-MegaRamp coming to freestyle.ch. It's my favourite ramp to skate and it's now at my favourite event in Europe. It's going to be an amazing
contest this year.”
Australia’s Vince Byron, who won the silver medal at this year’s X Games, along with America’s Morgan Wade are also all set to make an appearance in Zurich to perform BMX demos and compete in Crossover Session on Saturday.
The MegaRamp was first seen in The DC Shoes Video in 2004 and made its debut at the X Games Skateboard Big Air contest in the same year. Two years later, X Games added the BMX MegaRamp contest to its roster of events.
The MegaRamp is immensely popular in America and promises to be a big hit in Europe as well. The riders are looking forward to their trip to Zurich, while the Europeans are anticipating an adrenaline-pumping action over the weekend.
