Hi all,

i have a mini rex

she's abut 2 years old, spayed for over a year now

the vet had recommended we change her food/diet as she did have some pooping problems, just diahreahh.

she does seem more happy and she hasn't had any pooping problems since we switched food about 5 months ago

BUT i do notice that she's drinking about triple the water that she was drinking before. that's ok...drink up little bun!

right?

BUT she 'seems' to be leaving little pee marks on paper in her cage that she never used to. previously she only pee'd in her litter box, now that's not the case

also there is a piece of furniture we are noticing has these wee spots and now the carpet

they are small brownish marks. almost like you had a drop of coffee there or something. it's not like she's letting her whole bladder go....man...that would be noticable!

she appears happy and heatlhy, energy is good....

any suggestions other than taking her back to the vet?

  1. You should definitely see the vet ASAP because this could be a potential fatal condition. She could have a blockage. If she is drinking that much and is not urinating it back out then something is wrong especially if when she is going she can't control it. The brown sounds like it's old blood coming out of the urinary tract. She could even have a stone. If her bladder bursts, then she will die and if she has drank that much water then her bladder is probably full and she needs a catheter put in by the vet. Call your vet's after hours on call and ask if this should be put off til the morning or if it's an emergency. I think it's very risky to wait any longer but you need to take her to the vet for sure. Nothing else you can do at home.

  2. yea i'd take her to the vet, it could just be that shes getting a weak bladder with age and possibly affected from her last problem....
