  1. you might want to put some cement inside then some water sealer

  2. You don't want plants in a pond with a turtle because they will dig them up and kill them.  Goldfish in a pond will be three feet long in three years, so those are out too.  Unless you have the pond totally covered with something that will keep out predators, your turtle won't last more than a few days.

Either buy a tank big enough for the adult size of your turtle, or consider turning it over to a rescue agency that can care for it properly.

  3. The turtle will eat the fish so you can't do that.  The only way to keep fish with turtles is to get a really huge pond so that you can get really huge fish that are way bigger than the turtles.

  4. Your turtle won't really bother large pond plants that you buy from a garden center because they are pretty heavy and well established, and all ready potted in pots and soil.

You will need at the very least a small pump to circulate the water and a small filter attached to catch the algae and old poo created by the fish and the turtle.

Just curious, what kind of a turtle is he or she?

Well, have fun.   I have a python and it freaks people out that she eats live mice.

  5. ik

  6. plants that grow in water do not require dirt in the pond do not put dirt into pond if will cloud it up and kill all fish and reptiles it will suffocate them there is lots of info on the internet on pond do a searh on yahoo read read read i built a few ponds with waterfalls goldfish was pretty nice i went all around the towns collecting big rocks and lined them all around the edge you will want to leave an opening for the turtle to get out or you can build a island in the center next time you build a pond when u did it out leave a center mound and dig out around it leave atleast a foot or two round in center for island after you dig out pond get big enough liner to lay over your island and rest of pond then you can lay rock and put a plant or flower in pot in center on island with rocks and stuff around it leave room for wild life to get up on if possib;e dont use a under water filter they are a pain you have to pull out everytime you want to clean filter head to you local library for free info also ponds are neat and very relaxing when you put in a falls use all the dirt u dig out of the pond and mound it up close to the pond and again put a liner over it you have to shape the dirt a little built a small pond in the mound of dirt and have the over spill into your pond requires a small pump in main pond that will pump water to little pond and overflow back to main pond constantly reseculating your water which gives fish the air they need in the water i kept my fish alive all threw the winter remember gold fish need cold water if it gets to warm they will die good luck and remember have fun and let your imagination run wild

  7. Um if you know it eats goldfish, then you are going to ahve to spend a lot of money on goldfish unless u intend to breed them(also will take a lot of work to do)

I would put some rocks around the pond so it can look nicer and help hold the lining in and pose as a natural watering hole or pond that the turtle would live in.

Water plants dont need dirt to live, just attach them to some rocks and let them sink to the bottom.

get some water lillies, and maybe some cat tail and plant the cat tail in a shallow part of the pond (like around a foot deep)

also you should get a pond filter and hook that up or your pond will get really nasty and the turtle will die. also get some fish food for the fish.

your going to have to think hard on if you really want to do this for just a turtle.

every 2 months you need to drain the pond and scrub the pond down because nasty algea will have grown on it and other stuff...

you will also need a waterfall to keep things circulating if you want, but if you have a filter then thats fine.

Obviously you dont know much about ponds so i would do more research before letting your turtle outside without the proper things.

also 20 gallons is not big enough for a pond.
