I have a question for someone experienced with strokes and anxiety

symptoms. I went to the er because of a concern of a stroke.

I felt a bit of numbness in my right foot and some drooping of my mouth.

I also had high blood pressure and a fast pulse.

they checked with blood tests,MRI and CT scan and only found a low thyroid. they asked a series of questions and as well as

who is our president now. I could not remember...it was

weird. I also saw a regular doc since with cannot find the reason

for my high blood pressure and fast heart rates.

I am not on beta blockers and synthroid which gives me

headaches and nausea.

  1. Well to sum up the answer is you had a mini stroke called TIA (transient Ischemic Attack. Watch out, not a good sign.

  2. could have been an anxiety attack, you didn't give your age, I will assume you are young for the sake of conversation.  I suffered anxiety attacks for a couple months and I did get the numbness in my foot, hand, and sometimes face, and it scared me to death, my pulse also raced.  In addition, when you are in the midst of an anxiety attack you often do not think straight, b/c you are in the "fight or flight" mode, I often couldn't keep a train of thought and felt confused and disoriented.  Furthermore, if you did have a mini stroke (TIA) or major stroke, it would have shown up on the tests.

  3. It sounds very much like it could have been TIA, but it definitely was not anxiety.    You might consider seeing a cardiologist to look into the BP and high pulse.
