Question:

Mini-trampoline vs. Jogging?

It's summer in midtown New York, and the air quality is making my jogs less than pleasant and less than healthy. I have begun to try jogging on the rebounder (mini-trampoline), and wondered if anyone knew if the calories burned and cardiovascular benefits were as good running on a rebounder as on the street. The charts I have seen all test the mini-trampoline vs. running at 5 MPH, but my pace is more like 8 MPH. I would assume a similar pace on the rebounder. Any thoughts? Thanks for any advice.

  1. Normal jogging is better

  2. What Pollution in NY? Now you will know what the athletes in Bejing will be up against.

If it is unhealthy to run outside and you are getting a cardiovascular workout then it probably is an alternative to the treadmill, exercycle and swimming.

Running is hard on your body and I am wondering that the lack of pounding may soften your body up and when you get outside again this could lead to an injury. Perhaps try and get one outside run a week. It will also serve to evaluate if you are maintaining your fitness with the mini-tramp.

Aqua jogging in a pool is very good at replicating running training.

  3. definitely jogging!!!
