Miniature puppies possible?

would it be possible to mix a small dog like a mini doberman with something like a pitbull and create a small breed of pitbull?surely you could use the same method to turn poodles/dobermans into mini's.thank you.

I saw some horrible BYB website before where they were using jack russells and boston terriers to make 'mini' pit bulls.

There are two ways to make 'mini' versions of a breed- breeding smaller specimens of the breed (Most often can become  breeding the runts, which you shouldn't do.) or mixing in smaller breeds to make mutts, and then breeding back in the breed you want it to resemble.  (This was done with toy poodles, which is why some toy poodles will have a 'cottony' kind of coat when compared to mini and standard poodles.)

Also, Miniature pincers (Which I think is what you mean by mini doberman?) and Manchester terriers resemble dobermans, but are not true miniatures of that breed.

There's Miniature Pinschers.. but they are not small dobermans!  They are actually a small terrier thats been around long before the doberman was.  They were called Min Pins because they resembled a small version of the German Pinscher.

Dobermans were not bred down to "mini" size.

Poodles were bred down over many generations from selective breeding.  Smaller poodles were bred to smaller poodles.

Mixing a Min Pin and a Pit will not get you a "mini pit"..  you will get a mutt.

Pits were originally not suppossed to be as big as the dogs you see today.  People think they want "big" pits and those huge hippo-pig crosses you see that represent the breed are actually over-sized.

responsible breeders would never do this... yeah and if you procreate with a little person then you could have mini babies... thats not how it works, when will people get this.

You would create sickly mutts. I would not recommend even trying it. There are enough mutts and strays out there, you don't need to create anymore.

A mini doberman? There's no such thing as a mini Doberman. And there's no such thing as mini Pit Bulls. The fad today seems to be breeding smaller and smaller dogs. However, you'll find that these "mini" dogs are actually just mutts. I saw a website where a family claimed to sell mini rottweilers. Well, there was no rottie in their dogs at all! They were just mutts bred to look like rotties. Even Miniature Pinchers have no Doberman Pincher in them. They just look like smaller version.

To answer your question: no. Not unless someone is breeding runts to get smaller runts, there's no way to get a mini dog from a larger one.

For the record, Miniature Pinschers are not miniature versions of anything. They were created over 400 years ago by crossing a smooth coated Dachshund with an Italian Greyhound. They are in fact not a "Toy" breed at all but one of the oldest of the true Terrier family. They are not related to either Dobermann's Pinscher or the German (Deutscherpinscher) Pinscher. They are also not called "Min Pin's" because they resemble German Pinschers. The reference to "MinPin" is solely a nickname based on the MINiature PINscher first 3 letters in their breed name. Their actual name is "Zwergpinscher". Zwerg in German means dwarf. In addition, the word pinscher in German does not translate to "terrier" as some assume but is a derivative taken from the english word "pincher" to describe how they bite and hold their prey with their teeth. A pinching action. Most breeds where Miniature versions exist were created for a specific purpose where being smaller was to their advantage to perform their job. It was not just to make a smaller or miniature version just because.
