Question:

Minibus Practical driving test?

by  |  earlier

Could you possibly give me some more information about getting trained to drive a minibus for hire and reward please? IE try and earn a living from it!

How long is the test?

What manoeuvres does the test consist of?

How many minor faults am I permitted?

Do I have to take a driving schools vehicle?

Could I hire a vehicle and take the test without even having training?

Any answers and additional information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

  2. hi you will need to take pcv test its expensive you also need a medical test it is very strict also if you want to use it for school runs you also need a disclosure cert

  3. You need to take your cat D1 test to drive a mini bus on the road for hire and reward. the test itself lasts apprx 80 mins and consists of a show me tell me part consisting of 5 Q&A, a reversing exercise, a controlled stop exercise and about 55mins on the road which has to cover a minimum of 26 miles. On test you are allowed a maximum of 15 driver faults and no serious or dangerous. Most hire vehicles are not insured for test use so you will have to make sure as the examiner will often ask for ins proof if it is a hire bus hence people usually use a training schools bus. The test is the same as the cat D test so why not go straight in for that and then you can drive any bus.
