How do I minimize my recovery time? I am running 3 miles, then another 3 miles 6 hours later. What should I do in between? What should I eat?

I am going to run 6 miles a day for 5 days, how do I keep my body strong the whole week?

  1. Sounds like you need to understand some simple principals of training.

There is the hard day/ easy day concept of training. Also the progressive improvement often in training programs is 4 week cycles with 3 hard progressive improvement weeks and an easier recovery week. Recovery between runs is dictated by your fitness. As you get fitter your recovery between each run or after each run is quicker. The body learns to adapt to the situation and improves and strengthens itself thus getting fitter.

Progressive improvement. If you are running 3 miles now then easy days should run 3 miles and hard days run 4 or 4.5miles and build this up to easy days are 6 miles and hard runs are 10 miles. Always run how you feel and it is better to be on the safer side by not overtraining which is where you continuously pull the body down.
