Minimum Wage why no increase for waitresses?

Why is it that minimum wage is now $6.55 a hour now and the servers pay or waitress pay has not increased ?

It is still $ 2.13 a hour !!!!!!! Come on whats up with that? Anyone know why there is not a increase with the wages for servers? It's not fair.........

In CO they upped it for waiters. Call your congress person. Don't just whine get involved. We get paid less because of tips. Change restaurants to an upscale place.

Because the cash jobs don't pay the taxes and hence they are not obligated to follow the tax rules. No contracts no insurances nothing of that sort but still it's quite a lot of money anyways..

Same goes for the pizza delivery guys...

Because as a waitress your living is made on your tips not your wage.

honestly I (can) make a lot more than minimum wage with tips and if the bumped us up to regular minimum wage people would stop tipping and I'd lose a lot of money, I work WAY too hard not to be getting tipped!

Because we (I'm a waiter/bartender) make so much in tips, they feel they are not obligated to give server minimum wage a bump up!  It's stupid, but the way it is!  Very good questions by the way!

Because you get tips, and with those tips in addition to your hourly pay you can make more than minimum wage. My brother is a waiter and he makes amazing tips; so turn on your charm and stop complaining about what you're being paid. That barely constitutes as a paycheck, I know, but you can definitely make up for it in the tips.

I don't know where you work, but there's only a $4.42 difference in what your hourly pay is and what others receive. I think ONE tip from one table will be enough to cover that $4.42 difference.

So, if you have one table per hour of work you're getting minimum wage. Aren't you usually serving more than one table at a time?

I know. I feel bad for waiters/waitresses. I usually try to tip well to make up for that. I have always thought the tipping system was kind of dumb but that is our culture.
