what is the minimum age that a child should be allowed onto a golf course or driving range - included if that child is attending lessons. I am researching this for a legal case and would appreciate any proof / research that you can provide. Thanks

  1. the kid should have to show some level of ability, but unfortunately there is no minimum age.  smart parents take them to the driving range when they are young to get them swinging properly, then gradually move to a par-3 course, and then to a normal course when they are able to maintain a reasonable pace of play.

  2. There is no set age for children to start golf lessons, it is based mostly on size, strenght, and desire of that particular child. With the new Jr. clubs being much lighter, it allows children to start earlier without developing bad habits caused by Dad' heavy cut down clubs. As a golf professional I would insist on adult supervision with children at all times especially on the driving range, to instill manners and provide safety.

  3. If the course if very nice and well respected around town, children under 9 or 10 would probably be strongly advised not to play unless they are extremely good.

Otherwise, kids over the age of 7 could probably play at all other courses or hit off the driving range.

NOTE: Children of any age can hit off the driving range (within reason...you can be having infants teeing off lol)

  4. no minimum age required.  As long as they obey the rules and can swing a golf club...

Tiger was swinging before he was walking. lol.

  5. Tiger kicked his golf club's pro player's butt when he was 5 ;)  ( with handicap of course)

  6. actually there is no limit but course managers can get peeved if they tear up the green or divot when chipping and may ask you to leave the course or u might get a fine for the repair

  7. I've played golf my entire life and I have never heard of an age one would have to be before he could start taking lessons etc...

Now, most members out of courtesy alone will not bring a child who is not mature enough to stay still and quite on the course while he was playing with or around other golfers.

I love children, but if you are trying to get legal information for a client who's child got injured, I think the horrible consequence should fall on the parents.

    That's just my opinion
