-minimum shutter speed: 15 seconds

-Maximum Shutter Speed: 1/2000 sec.

Focal Length 35mm - 140mm (35mm equivalent)

a GE one for 150 said

  1. It depends what your shooting

you're going to use a slow shutter speed with a tripod when you're taking pictures in low light, or indoors, most of the time you need something to stabilize your shake, like a VR lens or a tripod, there's nothing " bad " about shooting with a slow shutter speed, just make sure you're using a VR lens, or you use a tripod.

And, you're going to use a fast shutter when you're in a studio or outside, this is great because you don't need to use a tripod , or a VR lens when using a fast shutter speeds. But you can virtually freeze everything, and show no indication of movement.

  2. 1/2000 is a fraction of a second... I honestly have never had to use anything that fast... the fastest I've used is probably 1/500 for sports.

I would go with the Canon... 15 seconds is a pretty slow shutter speed, and slow shutter speeds are often needed for dimly lit situations (be sure to use a tripod).

  3. The Canon one is better, not because of shutter speeds, but because the sensor is just plain going to be better than a generic Chinese camera with a GE label on it.

In this case, the Canon has a bigger zoom lens (more telephoto), and a wider range of shutter speeds.

The slower shutter speeds are meant to be used when the camera is on a tripod, and the Canon offers more versatility with a longer slow shutter speed.

    So go for the Canon.
