Question:

Minimum speed of UK motorways on moped / scooter?

I'm about travelling from Warwick to Stratford by moped.

50cc = 45 mph, 125cc = 65mph.

I'm thinking about taking the motorway (not sure which one). Is it legal to use a UK motorway for this journey? Or will I be incessantly honked at for the duration?

As usual I have the nations greatest incentive = 10 points for the best answer!

  1. Any moped/50cc bike is illegal for motorway use. The 125cc will be fine but only if you hold a full bike licence.

    There is no minimum speed limit, but anyone driving excessively slowly without good reason can be charged with a variety of offences depending on the circumstances. In free flowing traffic on a straight and level section of motorway, 50mph is acceptable, but 40mph is very likely to attract police attention and will definitely annoy other road users.
