just out of a matter of interest. I have heard they like to have a few square feet minimum for territory, and i believe the personality of each betta has a lot to do with it, too. one day i would like to try it.

thankyou :)

  1. well i've had some betas, and a pet shop worker told me they had to be in seperate cases because they would fight and kill one another (they were both males). the same would happen with females. So I bought a rather small glass tank and got this...divider thingy. im not sure what it wa, but the fish kept banging against it trying to get to each other. they got tired after a while. anyways, they had a very small tank and seemed happy enough. side note:betas can live with other types of fish and other betas but not betas of the same gender otherwise they'll compete for terrority. hope that helped even a little. but betas are fun to have and they're pretty! lol :)

  2. If you wanted to to multiple male bettas in a tank you would need 2 bettas to 7 females. Or 3 female bettas could be in a tank together and do just fine. Putting just male Betta's in a tank would kill each other.

  3. Its safer and less stressful to keep them individually, every commercial breeder will do that. If two fight and the loser becomes sick he can infect all the other bettas. Stress = disease in a fish tank

  4. I wouldn't put betta's in the same cage at all. I heard they can attack each other and kill, sometimes. That's what my pet store owner said when I bought my beta. I would suggest just putting them in different tanks altogether.

  5. Don't put male bettas together, they will fight each other until only one is left. I'm guessing a 30+ gallon tank.

  6. hmmm.... to have multiple Betta's in a tank it needs to be heavily planted. I wouldn't go with anything less than a 40 breeder tank.

edit: I have a 20g long that I divided into 4-5g sections each holding one Betta

edit: yes they are made out of a see through mesh. They do flare once and a while but I have a clay pot and live plants in each section for them to hide.  It doesn't seem to stress them at all.
