Hi,

I just started my job last monday, and i am on £5 an hour, but in two weeks i will be 22 and in a new minimum wage bracket.

Will my wage automatically go up or do i need to tell my employer?

if i don't will she be contacted saying she is not paying minimum wage?

thanks

  1. After the age of 18 they have to pay you £5.52 so already you are being ripped off, i'd find out how much this is and remind him.

Dont sound to me asthough he will automatically put it up.

  2. dept of labor website

    www.dol.gov/compliance/

  3. People who have posted so far are largely incorrect.

The minimum wage for 18-21 year old is currently £4.60, rising to £4.77 in October

For 22+, the minimum wage is £5.52, rising to £5.73 in October.

Your employer should adjust it automatically - especially if it's a big company - it'll be pretty much automatic, but if it doesn't appear in your next pay, remind them!

  4. where do u come from because over here(england) our min wage is £5.55 as for does it go up for u when 22 it alll depends on the company, if thats how there work best thing to do is ask your employer.
