Minnesota Timberwolves – Is there a new beginning with Rick Adelman? NBA Feature
As the winter approaches, Minnesota locals have very little left to keep them cosy at night. Sports fanatics had to go through some jagged months of baseball and now ostensibly football. However there is a hope now in the form
of basketball.
There was a team last season that performed more than what was expected of them every night. Despite having a fragile core of rosters, they would come every night and give everything they had.
The team is none other than Houston Rockets who despite losing Yao Ming earlier in the season due to injury, managed to win 43 games in the Western Conference.
Houston had a secret weapon in the form of their head coach, the great Rick Adelman then. Unfortunately, they let him go once the season ended; probably, because he could not take his team to the playoffs consistently.
Now those of you who think Adelman is not one of the greatest coaches in the history of NBA need to think again. I mean his stats say it all. In his 20 years coaching career, he amassed a winning percentage of 60.5 percent and
also had 11 consecutive winning seasons which just speaks for his brilliance.
Rick Adelman is the new head coach of Minnesota Timberwolves, a team that is in dire straits and has not managed to win 30 games in a season since the departure of Kevin Garnett. Excellent time for them to grab Adelman as I strongly
believe, he can take this team to new heights.
Ok, I don’t mean to say that Adelman is going to come in, cinch his fingers and the Timberwolves all of a sudden are going to be contending for the playoffs. He obviously will take some time to settle but what I am saying here
is that he is a champion. He just induces a winning mentality in the team and if he wishes to extend his stay in Minnesota, he must see something in the rosters in the team.
The team that is loaded with young talent will just might be perfect for Adelman.
Timberwolves possess one of the strongest centres in the game in form of Kevin Love, a rebounding monster. Then they have Ricky Rubio, Michael Beasley and Derrick Williams, who I personally think is way better than the number
one draft of 2011, Kyrie Irving. All these young rosters can learn a lot from Adelman.
Then, there is Anthony Randolph who despite being a talented player has been bouncing off in the league probably due to attitude problem, which Adelman can rectify.
Altogether, there is a lot to look ahead and now having acquired one of the best coaches in NBA, Minnesota are already on their way to redemption.
