Minnesota Timberwolves: Michael Beasley should be traded – NBA Feature
Talking about the eccentricity of Michael Beasley, there are no quick remedies to cure the ailment. The forward, although extremely talented, is immature and has had a history of discipline issues. In  short, he is a major headache
for his team, the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Last year in July, the Miami Heat traded Beasley to the Timberwolves principally in order to sign Chris Bosh and LeBron James so that they can have a space in the salary cap.
Beasley may be a brilliant ambidextrous player on the field, but he has been involved in many unwanted off the court stints. In 2008 NBA’s Rookie Transition Program, he was found with two other rookies in a hotel room with a strong
smell of burning marijuana. The police came to the room as a result of fire alarm. Beasley was not fined or asked to leave the camp like the two fellow rookies but later that month he was fined $50,000 after being forced by Pat Riley to confess that he was
there in the room before the police arrived.
In 2009, he was found in a rehab centre, however it was not confirmed whether he had received the counselling for drugs or stress related problem.
Few months back, Beasley was stopped for speeding by the police in Minneapolis. Marijuana was found in a plastic bag which was hidden under the front passenger seat.  He was ticketed- not arrested after this incident.
This month, he shocked the fans and critics of the basketball world. On a New York City Streetball tour with Kevin Durant, he was heckled when he was playing Streetball game in Inwood at Dyckman Park. After sometime he went to
a heckling fan and shoved his face. He had made it easier for the team’s president of basketball operations, David Kahn, to get rid of this highest paid player of team and trade someone else.
David Kahn has been working on the long term vision to build a young team which will be able to yield good results in the years to come.  The biggest strength of the Timberwolves team is their potential as they have the opportunity
to improve themselves and emerge. With such bad repute, Michael Beasley simply does not fit in the philosophy of this team.

Currently, the roster is comprised of young players with Kevin Love who has an All Star potential with Nikola Pekovic and Wesley Johnson seemed competent and look promising for the Wolves in future. Derrick Williams has also joined
the crew recently as a small forward. Ricky Rubio is good as a point guard.
At the moment, the team is struggling to have its own identity and Beasley has become a threat to it because of his constant media attention.
Team is negotiating with various head coaches to be hired. With this team, any coach will have to work hard and focus on the field rather distracted with off the court issues.
Although Beasley scored good in the last season with 19 points but Derrick Williams’ presence in the team leaves no space for Beasley to stay and the money should be used in hiring a better shooting guard.
