Minnesota Timberwolves hold workouts for Will Barton - NBA Update
In order to assess the best possible option for their 18 pick in this year`s draft, Minnesota Timberwolves held workouts for Memphis guard Will Barton and three other draft players on Monday. Along with Barton, Ramone Moore, Yancy Gates and Garrett Stutz
were also present to undergo the workouts.
As the current Minnesota situation stands they are looking to bring in either a guard to back up the injury prone Ricky Rubio or bring in a forward to backup Kevin Love in a tiring role. Wolves’ best option at the moment seems to be to back up Love who had
to miss out the final stages of the season because of being over fatigued.
Barton is a sophomore coming out from the Memphis Tigers and held an average of 18 points per game in his second year. Along with holding a high number of points, he was also able to average 8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game and can be good option to back
up the guard role.
Moore was a senior at temple and averaged 17.3 points and 3.4 assist last season while playing at the guard position. Other players present to work out on Monday can provide Minnesota with a presence in the post while coming off the bench.
Gates like Love plays at the forward position was a senior at Cincinnati and averaged 12.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game last season while Stutz plays centre, coming out of Wichita State he averaged 13.3 points and 8 rebounds in his final year at college.
Minnesota so far have only held work outs for Royce White out of Iowa State and are looking to bring in several other prospects in the next two days with the draft scheduled for June 28th. They will be holding a work out for Fab Melo who played
centre at the University of Syracuse and averaged 7.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in his second year at college.
Among the players joining Melo for the workout on Tuesday would be another centre, Kenny Frease while two guards, Tu Holloway out of Xavier and Maalik Wayns will also be present to work out for the Wolves.
